How long does it take to renal failure to kill a dog?

I have a lab / rottweiler mix that is 60 pounds and now I afraid she might have kidney failiure. I know it's more common in large breed dogs, and has all the symptoms of kidney failure. I still I have an appointment for your vet next week but I am so worried about how much time I could have left with her … How long can a dog with severe renal still live a normal life?
